Join us for an afternoon of Open Play Mahjong at The Kitchen Collective + Collaborative.

Gather with friends—or come ready to meet new ones—and enjoy a few rounds of relaxed, social play in a welcoming setting. This experience is designed for those who already know the basics and are looking to spend time at the table with others who enjoy the game.

By purchasing a ticket, you are confirming that you have a foundational understanding of Mahjong. Play will move at a natural pace, guided by the most experienced players at each table.

Please note: this is an open play session and no formal instruction will be provided.

When reserving your spot, please indicate if you will be bringing your own tiles and racks, or if you plan to join a table with someone who is.

You are welcome to bring your open beverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to play?
Yes. Open Play is intended for those who already understand the basics of American Mahjong. If you’re brand new, we recommend taking Mahjong 101 first.

What if I’m still a beginner?
That’s okay. As long as you understand the flow of the game and can read the card, you’re welcome to join. Please note this is not a guided lesson.

Can I come with friends?
Absolutely. We love when groups gather. While we can’t guarantee full tables for every group, arriving early gives you the best chance to play together.

Will someone be teaching or helping during play?
This is self-guided play, but a local instructor will be available to assist with quick questions or rule clarifications when possible.

Do I need to bring anything?
No. Tiles, mats, and game materials will be available. If you have a Mahjong card you prefer to use, feel free to bring it—otherwise extras will be provided.

Will there be food or drinks?
A beverage bar will be available.
