Join us for our May Book Club at The Kitchen C+C as we gather around the island for an evening inspired by one of Rachel’s favorite recent reads, Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books by Kirsten Miller.
Set in the South and full of charm, conversation, and layered characters, this month’s book has inspired a menu centered around Southern Summer Classics with a modern twist. During the evening, guests will help assemble a handful of beautiful seasonal dishes while enjoying meaningful conversation, sweet treats, and a relaxed summer atmosphere.
The evening’s menu will include:
- Mini Heirloom Tomato Pies
- Whipped Feta + Peach Crostini
- Golden Swan Banana Pudding
- Summer Sips inspired by the season
This is not a formal cooking class — instead, think of it as gathering in a Southern kitchen with friends, sharing stories, recipes, and a really good book.
We encourage guests to purchase their copy of Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books from HedgeHog Bookstore in historic downtown Fort Scott and support another wonderful local small business while you read along with us.
Space is limited, and our book clubs tend to fill quickly. We can’t wait to spend a summer evening around the table with you.
